Job summary

Neon Aero seeks a Senior System Safety Engineer to own ARP4761 analyses and safety integration across MBSE/PLM environments. You will lead FHA/PSSA/SSA efforts, perform FTA/FMEA analyses, and ensure safety requirements flow to hardware and software with traceability, supporting FAA/EASA certification.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with cybersecurity, and help scale Neon Aero's safety discipline as the company grows in a fast-paced startup-like environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, or Reliability Engineering.
• 8+ years of experience in aerospace system safety on certified programs.
• Deep ARP4761/ARP4761A methods expertise and integration with ARP4754A/B.
• Knowledge of 14 CFR XX.1309 and 23.2510 safety objectives and advisory material.
• Experience deriving safety requirements for hardware/software to DO-254/DO-178C.
• Hands-on with quantitative fault tree and reliability analysis tools.
• Ability to present and defend safety analyses with customers or authorities.

Responsibilities

• Lead FHA, PSSA, and SSA development and align with customer safety expectations.
• Perform and review FTA, FMEA/FMES, and CCAs analyses.
• Derive and allocate safety requirements to system, hardware, and software with traceability.
• Evaluate architectural mitigations, redundancy, and DO-178C/DO-254 planning.
• Establish and govern the system safety program and MBSE/PLM integration.
• Coordinate with product cybersecurity on safety and airworthiness interactions.
• Present safety analyses and defend rationale to customers and cert authorities.
