Summary

The Senior System Operations Planner - Outage Coordinator researches, plans, and coordinates outages and system additions for APS Transmission and Sub-transmission systems. Develops and prioritizes work plans and serves on committees as a subject matter expert.

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma/GED
• Five (5) years as a System Operations Planner or ECC Transmission Operator, or ten (10) years of relevant experience in transmission system operation, substation equipment, relaying, and procedures

• Knowledge of electrical theory for interconnected systems
• Ability to develop complex switching procedures and collaborate across departments
• Good judgment for decision-making under stress
• Experience working autonomously at various voltage levels
• Experience in grid operations or fieldwork
• Understanding of electrical power theory, transmission operations, and NERC standards
• Skills in using computer applications (Microsoft Office, outage management tools)
• Ability to manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously

Major Accountabilities

• Coordinate between ECC, engineering, maintenance, and utilities for outages and system changes
• Develop and organize outage plans to ensure system integrity and safety
• Research and execute switching procedures for maintenance and emergency responses
