Job summary

Engineering Infrastructure & Systems Research in Redmond, WA seeks a System Engineer 5 to join a high-impact research engineering team building a new micro-VM platform optimized for low-latency, high-density workloads.

You will own benchmarking, automate CI/CD workflows, and manage multi-platform cloud environments while troubleshooting complex infra issues. A Bachelor's in CS/CE and strong open-source contributions are required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of Linux systems administration and OS-level troubleshooting.
• 3+ years of CI/CD, test infrastructure, and automation experience.
• 3+ years of systems/infrastructure engineering, including virtualization, cloud compute environments, and scripting.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering required.
• Strong open-source/GitHub track record.

Responsibilities

• Provision and manage multi-platform cloud compute environments to support engineering and testing needs.
• Automate environment configuration to reduce setup overhead and keep infrastructure friction low.
• Own benchmarking infrastructure for VM lifecycle measurements, including boot latency, snapshot/restore, teardown, memory footprint, and throughput.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automated build/test/validation workflows across project repositories.
• Investigate performance or test regressions and improve validation reliability through reproducible experiments.
