Job summary

IBM is seeking an Application Developer in McLean, VA to lead modernization projects. You will plan, direct, and coordinate efforts to reshape legacy systems into modern, scalable solutions.

You will work across Java, .NET, Python, Node.js, and JavaScript, designing microservices, containerized deployments, and API-driven integrations with cloud platforms. A Top Secret/SCI clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Modern programming languages experience with Java, .NET, Python, Node.js, and JavaScript.
• Cloud and containerization with AWS, Azure, IBM Cloud, Google Cloud; Docker and Kubernetes.
• Microservices architecture with RESTful APIs and OpenAPI specifications.
• Legacy code migration to modern platforms; include generative AI capabilities.
• Database design for secure, scalable solutions with testing and performance optimization.
• Must possess and maintain active Top Secret Clearance with SCI access.

Your Role And Responsibilities

As an Application Developer specializing in Application Modernization, you will plan, direct, and coordinates activities for information systems, conducts systems analysis, and develops system architectures. You will collaborate with architects and consultants to execute modernization strategies and ensure technical feasibility.

Your Primary Responsibilities Will Include

• Develop Modern Applications: Develop and refactor applications using modern programming languages such as Java, .NET, Python, Node.js, and JavaScript. Implement microservices architectures and containerized solutions using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Integrate Cloud Platforms: Integrate applications with cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, IBM Cloud, and Google Cloud. Apply DevOps practices and tooling to support continuous integration, delivery, and monitoring.
• Migrate Legacy Codebases: Migrate legacy codebases (e.g., COBOL, RPG, C++) to modern platforms and languages. Incorporate generative AI capabilities into application workflows where applicable.
• Design Database Solutions: Design and implement secure, scalable, and maintainable database solutions. Support testing, debugging, and performance optimization throughout the development lifecycle.
• Enable Seamless Integration: Build and consume RESTful APIs and OpenAPI specifications to enable seamless integration across systems.

Required Technical And Professional Expertise

• Modern Programming Languages: Experience with modern programming languages such as Java, .NET, Python, Node.js, and JavaScript, including hands-on development and refactoring of applications.
• Cloud and Containerization: Experience with cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, IBM Cloud, and Google Cloud, as well as containerization using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Microservices Architecture: Experience with designing and implementing microservices architectures, including building and consuming RESTful APIs and OpenAPI specifications.
• Legacy Codebase Migration: Experience with migrating legacy codebases to modern platforms and languages, including incorporating generative AI capabilities into application workflows.
• Database Solution Design: Experience with designing and implementing secure, scalable, and maintainable database solutions, including support for testing, debugging, and performance optimization.
• Must possess and have the ability to maintain active Top Secret Clearance with SCI access
