Work Schedule
- First 6 months: Onsite in Knoxville during onboarding and ramp-up

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to design, implement, secure, and support enterprise infrastructure across cloud and on-premises environments. This position will work with a broad technology stack including Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft 365, Windows and Linux servers, Active Directory/Entra ID, virtualization, networking, and enterprise data center technologies. This position is best suited for a senior-level, hands-on systems/infrastructure engineer who enjoys working across both cloud and traditional enterprise environments. Candidates should be comfortable taking ownership of critical infrastructure, solving complex technical problems, and helping guide infrastructure standards and future technology decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, administer, and optimize enterprise cloud and on-premises infrastructure.
- Manage cloud resources across Microsoft Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud, including virtual machines, storage, databases, networking, and related services.
- Monitor cloud environments for performance, availability, security, capacity, and cost efficiency.
- Administer Microsoft 365, including Exchange/email, Teams, SharePoint, licensing, and other collaboration services.
- Manage Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID, including Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, certificates, identities, permissions, and elevated administrative access.
- Administer and support Windows and Linux server environments, including physical and virtual infrastructure.
- Monitor servers, applications, backups, scheduled jobs, system logs, and infrastructure health.
- Install, configure, patch, upgrade, troubleshoot, and maintain enterprise server infrastructure and supporting software.
- Diagnose and resolve escalated infrastructure, operating system, hardware, software, and performance issues.
- Partner with Security teams to implement security improvements, operating system patches, application updates, and infrastructure hardening.
- Develop, maintain, and test backup, recovery, business continuity, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Collaborate with Network Engineering to ensure proper integration of servers, cloud services, network connectivity, web services, and related infrastructure.
- Perform capacity planning and provide recommendations regarding future infrastructure, hardware, software, and cloud requirements.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, infrastructure standards, procedures, and architectural recommendations.
- Provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing to other IT professionals and support teams.
- Assist with evaluating technology vendors, products, and third‑party infrastructure services.
- Participate in an after‑hours/on‑call support rotation as required.
- Stay current with evolving cloud, infrastructure, security, and systems engineering technologies and best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline plus 8+ years of relevant professional experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong hands‑on experience supporting enterprise Windows and Linux server infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure and experience working with cloud infrastructure and services.
- Experience with AWS and/or Google Cloud environments.
- Strong experience with Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and Microsoft Entra ID.
- Experience with virtualization, enterprise data center technologies, networking concepts, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and certificate management.
- Strong understanding of infrastructure security, identity/access management, patching, backups, disaster recovery, and systems monitoring.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues across multiple technologies.
- Strong documentation, communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with Security, Network, Development, and IT Operations teams.
