Senior Systems Engineer – Cybersecurity Exposure Management / CTEM
Job Location: Remote
Duration: 14-month contract with potential extension or conversion to permanent employment
Pay Range: $80–$90/hr (W2), depending on experience
Position Overview
Our client, a leading financial institution, is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer – Cybersecurity Exposure Management / CTEM to support the implementation, integration, and operational development of a new enterprise Exposure Management platform and program.
This is a hands-on cybersecurity engineering role requiring strong experience in systems administration, API integrations, security data connectivity, vulnerability management, and attack surface visibility. The successful candidate will help integrate security technologies across cloud, identity, infrastructure, and application environments while developing workflows to identify, prioritize, and remediate security exposures.
This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys building and operationalizing security solutions, not simply installing or administering vulnerability scanning tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technical onboarding, configuration, and integration of a new enterprise Exposure Management platform.
- Integrate security data sources across cloud environments, identity management systems, infrastructure, and vulnerability scanning platforms.
- Troubleshoot API connectivity, data ingestion, asset correlation, and security integration issues.
- Validate the accuracy and quality of exposure data collected across enterprise environments.
- Discover, map, and monitor internal and external attack surfaces, including cloud, network, application, and SaaS assets.
- Identify unknown, misconfigured, abandoned, or vulnerable assets contributing to organizational security risk.
- Support Continuous Threat Exposure Management (CTEM) workflows, including exposure identification, validation, prioritization, and remediation.
- Prioritize security exposures based on exploitability, threat intelligence, business criticality, and compensating controls.
- Partner with security, cloud, infrastructure, IAM, and application teams to coordinate remediation activities.
- Develop operational procedures, reporting dashboards, metrics, and documentation to support long-term program maturity.
- Track remediation progress, validate resolution, and recommend improvements to reduce enterprise security risk.
Required Qualifications
- Strong background in enterprise systems engineering, systems administration, and security platform integrations.
- Hands-on experience integrating enterprise technologies through APIs, data connectors, or automated workflows.
- Experience in information security, vulnerability management, and cybersecurity risk management.
- Understanding of attack surface management, security exposure identification, and risk-based vulnerability prioritization.
- Experience implementing, integrating, or operationalizing enterprise cybersecurity platforms.
- Familiarity with cloud security, identity security, networking fundamentals, and enterprise infrastructure.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex integration issues and validate data ingestion, asset correlation, and exposure accuracy.
- Experience coordinating security remediation efforts across multiple technical teams.
- Strong technical documentation, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to take ownership of technical initiatives and work effectively in a collaborative enterprise environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Continuous Threat Exposure Management (CTEM) programs or equivalent exposure management workflows.
- Knowledge of ASM, EASM, CSPM, CIEM, and attack path analysis technologies.
- Experience with security platforms such as Tenable, Qualys, Rapid7, Wiz, Axonius, Brinqa, ServiceNow Vulnerability Response, or similar technologies.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Experience integrating vulnerability, asset inventory, identity, and security posture data from multiple enterprise platforms.
- Understanding of threat modeling, attacker techniques, and modern vulnerability exploitation trends.
- Previous experience helping launch or mature an enterprise cybersecurity program.
- Experience supporting complex, highly regulated enterprise environments.
Additional Information
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Candidates who are currently employed are strongly preferred due to the extended background screening and onboarding process.
- Initial contract duration is 14 months, with potential extension or conversion to permanent employment.
This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a high-impact enterprise cybersecurity initiative focused on strengthening visibility, reducing security exposures, and advancing a modern, risk-based security program.
