Job summary

Naval Nuclear Laboratory seeks an experienced IT Professional to join the Shipboard Electrical Systems (SES) Department and support two computer networks across sites. You will manage servers, network appliances, virtual infrastructure, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux, while delivering advanced user support.

Expected qualifications include a Bachelor's with 6+ years or a Master’s with 4+ years in related fields, plus preferred experience in VMware, Windows Server, and cybersecurity policy

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience; or
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Configure and manage network infrastructure
  • Perform hardware upgrades following an obsolescence management plan
  • Follow NR cybersecurity polices and author CSCRs as necessary
  • Lead IT projects that will benefit the NR Electrical Community

Job Description

The Shipboard Electrical Systems (SES) Department is seeking an experienced IT Professional to join our IT Team. This position will allow an IT Professional to have the opportunity to work in a multi-disciplined role as part of a cross-site team administrating two computer networks. This position will provide opportunities to manage servers, network appliances, virtual infrastructure, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and provide advanced level user support.

Responsibilities
  • Configure and manage network infrastructure
  • Perform hardware upgrades following an obsolescence management plan
  • Follow NR cybersecurity polices and author CSCRs as necessary
  • Lead IT projects that will benefit the NR Electrical Community
Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience; or

Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.

Pay Range

$86,100.00 - $134,600.00 annually

Salary information provided is a general guideline only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation. Naval Nuclear Laboratory personnel are FMP employees who work at four DOE facilities: Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, Kenneth A. Kesselring Site, and Naval Reactors Facility, and at the U.S. Department of Defense-owned Nuclear Power Training Unit-Charleston. FMP employees also have an established presence at numerous shipyards and vendor locations. For nearly 70 years, the Naval Nuclear Laboratory has developed advanced nuclear propulsion technology, provided technical support, and trained world-class nuclear operators to ensure the safe and reliable operation of our nation's submarine and aircraft carrier Fleets. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is a national asset solely dedicated to the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program. We rely on the dedication and innovation of our nearly 8,000 engineers, scientists, technicians, and support personnel.
