Job summary

Smart Working is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to own a mature Symfony 6.1 platform and work remotely within a cross-functional squad of engineering, product, QA, and DevOps.

You will drive Symfony 7 migration, optimize performance, and collaborate with Angular and TypeScript/Python AI services while adhering to SOC 2/PII rules. Fluency in English and the ability to work UK hours are expected.

Qualifications

• Expert PHP and Symfony backend development.
• Experience migrating to Symfony 7 and performance tuning.
• Familiarity with SOC 2/PII rules and secure data handling.

Responsibilities

• Drive Symfony 7 migration and improve performance, scalability, and maintainability.
• Critically review human and AI-generated code, challenge weak approaches, and spot gaps.
