Job summary

YMCA of Superior California is seeking a Lead Swim Instructor to oversee swim lessons for participants of all ages and abilities. You will train and supervise Swim Instructors, provide coverage as needed, and ensure a safe, welcoming environment across YMCA Aquatics programs.

The role involves coordinating with staff across branches, shadowing new instructors, managing records, and maintaining safety procedures per the Emergency Action Plan.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years' prior experience in aquatics teaching children and adults.
• Current American Red Cross First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer certification (available upon hire).
• Current YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor Certification (available upon hire).

Responsibilities

• Supervise Swim Lessons and Swim Instructors on shift.
• Oversee the implementation of swim lessons and the administrative duties associated with lessons.
• Lead staff through onboarding, including swim lesson shadow-shifts.
• Develop positive relationships with members and participants and provide motivational support.
• Respond to parent and participant questions in person, by phone, and by email.
