Job summary

SafeSplash McKinney is seeking a Senior Instructor to oversee training and ongoing education for our swim instructors, reporting to the Assistant Manager. You will help ensure safe, engaging lessons and uphold our standards for students, parents, and staff.

Responsibilities include initial and ongoing staff training, maintaining certifications, tracking the training lifecycle, supervising instructors and lifeguards, coaching, assisting in water, conducting in-services, and providing feedback.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 months of teaching swim lessons (preferred)
• Supervisor or team leadership experience in aquatics, education, or related field
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while taking initiative
• Comfortable working around water and interacting with children and parents
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and be on your feet for long periods
• CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications are desired within 30 days of hire
• Lifeguard certification training/instruction within 90 days

Responsibilities

• Provide initial training for new staff and ongoing training for all team members
• Ensure all required certifications are obtained, current, and compliant
• Track and manage the employee training lifecycle (onboarding, renewals, milestones)
• Supervise instructors and lifeguards to ensure high-quality lessons and safety
• Coach and mentor instructors in and out of the water
• Assist instructors in the water with curriculum challenges
• Conduct quarterly in-services for ongoing education
• Provide constructive feedback to staff through evaluations or feedback
• Collaborate with management to determine training needs

Responsibilities

• Provide initial training for new staff and ongoing training for all team members to enhance their skills and stay current with standards.
• Ensure all required certifications are obtained, current, and compliant for all required staff
• Track and manage the employee training lifecycle, including onboarding completion, required certifications, in-services, renewals, and ongoing development milestones
• Supervise instructors and lifeguards to ensure high-quality lessons and adherence to safety and brand standards.
• Coach and mentor instructors both in and out of the water.
• Assist instructors in the water with challenges they are facing with the curriculum.
• Conduct quarterly in-services to ensure continued education.
• Provide constructive feedbackto staff through evaluations or immediate feedback.
• Collaborate with the management team to determine training needs.

Safety

• Ensure the safety of our customers and report any unsafe activities, equipment or instruction to management.
• Provide feedback to instructors immediately if they are outside of curriculum safety requirements (i.e. safety distances, holds, turning backs, etc.)

Customer

• Deliver a world-class experience by addressing customer inquiries, ensuring we are delivering an exceptional product, and the swimmers are progressing.
• Assist instructors on how to communicate with parents on their child’s progress.

Job Type

• Weekdays, Weeknights and Weekends required
• 30+hours a week (seasonality can impact this)
• Work Location: On-site

Requirements
