Job summary

Free People is seeking a Senior Sweaters Designer to lead development of design projects for the Collection Sweaters category. This role drives seasonal concept research, knit stitch and pattern newness, and execution for cohesive, on-trend product.

The successful candidate will oversee design packages, collaborate with global teams, and push new patterns and techniques while working on-site at our Philadelphia headquarters 3-5 days per week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Fashion Design with sweater knitting experience strongly preferred.
• 9+ years experience in sweater design.
• Deep knowledge of yarns, sweater materials, and construction timelines.
• Strong CAD skills including Procreate, Illustrator, and Photoshop.

Responsibilities

• Lead design creation, development, and execution of own-brand Collection Sweaters with a focus on newness in shapes and fashion POV.
• Forecast fashion & cultural trends and present monthly trend direction with Design Director.
• Support seasonal development calendars for Retail & Wholesale deliveries.
• Identify global trends in concept/stitch/pattern and yarn; create new layout ideas for patterns and construction.
• Manage development and execution of design packages with Design Director and cross-functional teams.
• Review samples for fit, communicate adjustments to technical teams, and provide timely comments to factories.
