Position
Sustaining Engineer
As a Sustaining Engineer at DDI, you will be an integral part of our operations team focused on ensuring the ongoing performance, reliability, and optimization of our electronic control systems and I/O equipment used in semiconductor processing. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee post-development activities, including maintenance, replacing and approving obsolescent components, troubleshooting, continuous improvement, and technical support. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams including development engineering, manufacturing, quality assurance, document control and customer support, you will contribute to delivering exceptional products and maintaining our reputation for excellence.
Responsibilities
- Obsolescent Component Management: Manage the replacement, qualification and documentation of obsolescent components
- Technical Support: Provide expert technical assistance to address questions from strategic volume suppliers, critical for meeting product launch schedules.
- Troubleshooting: Investigate and resolve complex technical issues related to control electronics, independently and collaboratively.
- Root Cause Analysis: Conduct thorough analyses of electronic failures and implement corrective actions.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify and lead efforts for product enhancement, reliability, and cost optimization.
- Design Generation: Experience with analog and digital design, preferably with Orcad/Allegro, PCAD, Altium.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate technical documentation, including specifications and troubleshooting guidelines.
- Collaboration: Work with development, manufacturing, and quality teams for seamless product transitions.
- Change Management: Implement design changes and firmware updates adhering to standards.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with industry standards, participate in audits.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electronics, or related field.
- 5+ years in sustaining engineering, preferably in complex electronic products.
- Experience with obsolescence component qualification.
- Deep understanding of electronic control systems and semiconductor processing technologies.
- Proficiency in diagnosing electronic issues at system and component levels.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations.
- Experience with root cause analysis methodologies like Six Sigma or 8D.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
- Self-motivated and independent working capability.
