Sustainability Expert - Packaging Assessment and Strategy

Business Title: Sustainability Expert - Packaging Assessment and Strategy
Location: Remote

As a Sustainability Expert - Packaging Assessment and Strategy in our US branch, you will support the delivery of high-quality consulting services for our clients, focusing on sustainable packaging initiatives through expertise in product environmental footprinting (PEF) and life cycle assessment (LCA). You will assess and reduce environmental impacts across the product life cycle, especially for consumer packaged goods (CPG) packaging, applying ecodesign principles, circularity strategies, and science-based solutions.

Your responsibilities include evaluating packaging solutions against circularity metrics, developing product environmental footprints per EU and international standards, and aligning with environmental regulations. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams—design, R&D, procurement, compliance—to embed sustainability into product development, support data-driven decisions, and contribute to closed-loop packaging systems that meet environmental priorities in the Fashion and Sporting Goods Sector.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct Life Cycle Assessments and Product Environmental Footprints, focusing on packaging materials and products.
- Perform LCAs and footprints aligned with standards like ISO 14040/44, PEF.
- Analyze full life cycle impacts and communicate insights to diverse audiences.
- Support ecodesign and sustainable packaging innovation by collaborating with design, R&D, and marketing teams.
- Assess circularity of packaging solutions using established metrics and frameworks, and recommend improvements for recyclability, reuse, biodegradability, or compostability.
- Contribute to developing closed-loop systems and material recovery strategies.
- Monitor and interpret relevant environmental regulations to ensure compliance.
- Stay updated on trends and benchmark environmental performance.
- Engage with external stakeholders and participate in standard-setting initiatives.
- Contribute to business development through proposals, client engagement, and project scoping.
- Lead and mentor project teams.
- Serve as an internal subject matter expert and represent Quantis at conferences.
