Job summary

The City of Long Beach is seeking a skilled land surveying professional to manage field survey teams and oversee the preparation of tract and parcel maps, along with engineering improvement plans. The role requires active CA licensure as a Land Surveyor or as a Civil Engineer authorized for surveying, with experience in GPS monitoring and map reviews.

The incumbent will supervise field crews, coordinate with office staff, and ensure safety and compliance with applicable standards.

Qualifications

• Current California license as a Land Surveyor (proof required).
• Current CA Civil Engineer license authorized to practice land surveying (proof required).
• Proof of required documents must be uploaded with the application including degree/ transcripts if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Directs a field survey party in hydrographic, geodetic, boundary and construction surveying.
• Supervises office staff in the preparation/checking of tract maps, parcel maps and improvement plans.
• Monitors GPS real-time networks and reviews control maps and reports; conducts complex survey computations.
