Job summary

Control Point Associates in Virginia Beach, VA is seeking an experienced Assistant Project Manager to join our surveying team. You will assist in field crew management, CAD drafting support, and client coordination while helping oversee project workflows and deadlines.

The role emphasizes strong communication, site and boundary analysis, and accuracy in ALTA/topographic surveys using Civil 3D. A Bachelor’s degree and proven leadership in surveying are preferred; SIT is a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of surveying field experience with 2–3 years of management.
• Bachelor's Degree preferred; SIT (Surveyor in Training) is a plus.
• Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Ability to relate to clients and people at all levels.
• Ability to manage tight deadlines and multitask.
• Strong communications, diplomacy and listening skills.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret drawings and complex documents.
• Excellent computer skills.
• Attend internal and external events and functions.

Responsibilities

• Assist in training and management of survey field crews, CAD drafters, survey technicians and support staff.
• Communicate effectively across all teams and business units.
• Assist in the financial management of survey projects, including contract preparation, billing reports, invoicing and collections.
• Boundary analysis and computations of ALTA, topographic, utility and roadway surveys utilizing Civil 3D and other industry standard software.
• Construction stakeout services including field setup and quality control of construction stakeout projects.
• Quality control of all survey documents, including survey plans, record plots, metes and bounds descriptions, and review of title commitment reports, including peer review of other office project teams' deliverables.
• Assist with client meetings, conference calls and coordination.
• Business development – identify potential new clients, attend marketing events/conferences and maintain existing client relations.
• Contract preparation.
• Provide overall daily management of project workflow, staffing, and deadlines under the supervision of a project manager.
• Other duties as assigned.
