Job summary

Jefferson Lab seeks a Survey and Alignment Technician-Metrology to perform precision alignment tasks for a particle accelerator. You will lead crews when needed, plan procedures, and ensure accurate calibration of laser trackers, portable measurement arms, and CMMs using Spatial Analyzer and related tools.

The role requires 5+ years of metrology experience, a high school diploma (associate degree preferred), and willingness to work on-site in Newport News, VA.

Qualifications

• Requires 5+ years of experience in metrology or alignment roles.
• Metrology software experience preferred (Spatial Analyzer, PolyWorks, Verisurf).
• Education above the minimum may be substituted for experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform precision alignment of accelerator components and lab areas.
• Lead alignment crews as needed and plan alignment procedures.
• Ensure accurate use and field calibration of laser trackers, portable measurement arms, optical levels, theodolites, and CMMs.
• Interface with engineers, designers and physicists to complete tasks.
• Document survey plans and results; use Spatial Analyzer or similar software.
