Job summary

Providence Health and Services Tahoka, TX seeks a Senior Surgical Technician to maintain the sterile field and assist during surgery as second scrub or first assistant. The role requires ACS-certified technologist credentials and 3 years of experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology or Armed Services Surgical Technology program.
• National Certified Surgical Technologist - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting upon hire
• National Tech in Surgery - Certified - National Center for Competency Testing upon hire
• National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire
• 3 years of Experience as a certified surgical technician.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the operating room sterile field and pass instruments, sutures, and sponges during surgery.
• Ensure proper aseptic technique to prevent contamination and infection.
• Assist as second scrub and/or first assistant as needed, and support circulating duties for the nurse.

Description

As a member of the surgical team, under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse Circulator, maintains the operating room sterile field; passes instruments, sutures, and sponges during surgery. Insures that proper aseptic technique is utilized to prevent contamination and infection. Performs in the role of second scrub and/or first assistant as needed. Assists the registered nurse with circulating duties.

Required Qualifications:

• Coursework/Training: Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology or Armed Services Surgical Technology program.
• National Certified Surgical Technologist - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting upon hire, Or
• National Tech in Surgery - Certified - National Center for Competency Testing upon hire
• National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire
• 3 years of Experience as a certified surgical technician.
