Job summary

Providence Portland Medical Center is seeking a Senior Surgical Technician for a full-time, day shift. You will scrub in, prepare sterile instruments, and support the OR team under RN supervision. Responsibilities include reviewing procedure lists, gathering supplies, and ensuring back table readiness for cases.

The role is full-time with rotating weekends and on-call expectations, and includes a generous $8,000 hiring bonus for eligible external hires who meet qualifications.

Qualifications

• Completed training as a surgical technician at an accredited school.
• Upon hire: National Certified Surgical Technologist - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting
• Upon hire: National Provider BLS - American Heart Association
• 3 years Experience as a Surgical Technician in Operating Room.

Responsibilities

• Review preference lists and prepare the supplies and instruments for a procedure.
• Perform a surgical scrub and prepare the back table with sterile instrumentation and supplies.
• Provide intra-operative support by anticipating the surgeon’s needs and passing the appropriate instrumentation.
• Complete the cycle by taking instruments and equipment to the decontamination area after the case.

Senior Surgical Tech - Providence Portland Medical Center. This is a full-time, Day shift position (0640-1715, 4, 10 hr shifts weekdays) with rotating weekends, holidays, and call/standby.

The Surgical Technician role is a non-licensed health care employee who performs the surgical scrub role and works under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). These duties may include reviewing preference lists and picking the supplies and instruments for a procedure; performing a surgical scrub and preparing the back table with the appropriate sterile instrumentation and supplies; providing support intra-operatively by anticipating the surgeon’s needs and passing him/her the appropriate instrumentation and supplies when needed during the case; completing the cycle by taking instruments and equipment to the decontamination area at the end of the procedure and putting away left over supplies and equipment.

The successful candidate's placement on the wage range for this position will be determined based upon relevant job experience and other applicable factors.
