Job summary

Curtiss-Wright Corporation seeks a Senior Supplier Manufacturing Engineer for the Pittsburgh area (Cheswick) with remote Philadelphia, PA options. You will partner with suppliers, drive proactive improvements, and lead technical reviews to assure on-time delivery and quality across critical manufacturing processes.

The role demands strong cross-functional collaboration, extensive manufacturing experience, and the ability to obtain DoD clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline.
• Minimum 10 years in a manufacturing environment with primary experience in machining, fabrication welding, testing, winding and/or assembly processes.
• Experience working on-site with suppliers is highly desired.
• Experience in commercial nuclear, defense, aerospace, energy, or similarly regulated industries.
• Working knowledge of quality systems within the commercial nuclear (10CFR50 Appendix B, ASME NQA-1) or defense industry (ISO-9001, MIL-I-45208) desired.
• Blue print reading, particularly GD&T per ASME Y14.5M.
• Due to DoD requirements, candidates must be US citizens, and must be able to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance.

• Perform critical supplier capacity assessments and root cause analyses.

We are looking for a Senior Supplier Manufacturing Engineer to join our Pittsburgh (Cheswick) location.

Location: Remote Philadelphia, PA or On-site Cheswick, PA

Your Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will play a key role in the Curtiss-Wright EMD Purchasing organization as a Senior Supplier Manufacturing Engineer to provide hands on problem solving and technical judgement to assist mission critical suppliers. The individual will perform proactive supplier oversight to review and evaluate supplier processes and employ preventative/correction actions as required to improve on-time delivery and supplier manufacturing efficiency. The individual will be required to work hand-in-hand with Design Engineering, Sourcing team members, Supplier Quality Engineers, and Project Management to result in improved critical Supplier performance.

Salary: $86,100.00 - $143,500.00 per year

Your Challenge:

• Lead proactive development processes to act on opportunities for improvement and to resolve vulnerability issues across critical suppliers
• Relationship building with critical suppliers to optimize communication, on-time delivery performance through capability, yield improvement, and throughput optimization
• Acting as expert in assigned critical supplier manufacturing process execution
• Technical leadership via performance of technical reviews, production/first article readiness reviews, Product Failure Modes Effects Analysis (PFMEA), control plans, process audits and on-site oversight
• Perform critical supplier capacity assessments
• Conduct root cause analysis and corrective action efforts related to manufacturing nonconformances
• Manage supplier preparation for documentation submittals, source inspections, audits, and regulatory or customer visits as required
• Perform and direct nonconformance dispositioning as required
• Coordinate cross-functionally with internal design engineering, quality, supply chain, and program teams to troubleshoot manufacturing issues
• Share best practices and lessons learned across internal and supplier organizations
• Travel (50% local, domestic or international as required)

What You Bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline and/or equivalent experience in a Manufacturing Lead role
• A minimum of ten (10) years in a manufacturing environment with primary experience in one or more of the following: machining, fabrication welding, testing, winding and/or assembly processes.
• Prior experience working on-site with suppliers highly desired
• Experience incommercial nuclear, defense, aerospace, energy, or similarly regulated industries
• Working knowledge of quality systems within the commercial nuclear (i.e., 10CFR50 Appendix B, ASME NQA-1) or defense industry (i.e., ISO-9001, MIL-I-45208) desired
• Blue print reading, particularly involving GD<span style="font-weight:bold;>&T</span> per ASME Y14.5M
• Former experience with procedure, work instruction, drawing or routing creation, review or approval
• Evaluation of design changes, and/or other specifications requirements, with experience in determining how those changes relate to potential manufacturing process changes
• Former impactful experience with complex project management, problem prevention, strategy deployment and/or mentoring
• Excellent organization, communication (written and oral) and presentation skills
• Problem solving, especially involving tight feature tolerances and rework of part deviations
• Champion and define manufacturing strategies of large-scale projects
• Green or Black Belt Lean Certification a plus
• Due to DoD requirements, candidates must be US citizens,
• Must be able to obtain and maintain DOD security clearance.
