Job summary

Applied Materials in Phoenix, AZ is seeking an experienced engineering leader to oversee supplier technical audits and cost planning for advanced semiconductor cleaning solutions. You will evaluate requirements, drive supplier improvements, and partner with Surface Tech and Quality teams.

This role requires 10–20 years in semiconductor manufacturing, strong communication, and willingness to travel up to 50%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in chemistry, mechanical, materials, or related engineering disciplines.
• 10–20 years in semiconductor industry or parts manufacture/cleaning field.
• Strong communication and influence skills with proven project experience on new product introduction or Lean/quality upgrade.
• Good integrity and IP-awareness; protect Applied benefits when working at supplier sites.
• Able to support significant domestic travel >50%.
• Knowledge and experience with automation; AI is a nice-to-have.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates technical requirements of new and existing Best Know Method; collaborates with suppliers to define or recommend cleaning solutions that save time, reduce lead times, and improve system life.
• Coordinate with Surface Tech or Quality teams to ensure clear engineering drawing requirements and effective communication to suppliers.
• Lead supplier selection processes to build a base with competitive quality, value/cost, delivery and technology.
• Lead supplier technical audit processes and evaluate supplier performance; drive continuous improvement with supplier engineers.
• Assist in cost planning by monitoring key cost drivers and supply markets to maintain competitive advantage.
• Participate in quality problem resolutions and incident management with the Quality team; drive systemic supplier resolutions.
