Legal Action of Wisconsin, Inc. in Milwaukee seeks a Supervising Attorney for the Older Americans Act Project and the Milwaukee Benefits Unit. You will supervise a team and provide direct services to clients aged 60+ in public benefits, housing, and consumer law.

The role involves training Elder Benefit Specialists and ensuring grant reporting, with a base on-site location in Milwaukee and a competitive salary scale based on experience.

Qualifications

• At least three years of experience practicing law.
• Admission to the Wisconsin State Bar.
• Prior legal aid or other relevant supervision experience.
• Superior skills in case analysis, research, and writing.
• Demonstrated ability to speak and write clearly, persuasively, and concisely.
• Self-motivated, diligent, and able to meet strict deadlines while under pressure.
• Ability to motivate and work harmoniously with others.

Responsibilities

• Manage own caseload of clients eligible for services under the Older Americans Act (OAA).
• Provide supervision and assistance to two attorneys and two paralegals assigned to the OAA Project and two attorneys and one paralegal assigned to the Milwaukee Benefits Unit.
• Provide training and technical assistance to Elder Benefit Specialists employed by Milwaukee County's Aging and Disability Resource Center.
• Manage the OAA Project's budget; and
• Fulfill OAA grant reporting requirements
