Job summary

Superior Skilled Trades is seeking a Senior Superintendent/General Superintendent to lead complex construction projects across the DMV region, with a Bethesda location reference. The role emphasizes safety, schedule adherence, subcontractor coordination, and budget management.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of construction superintendent experience with projects over $20M.
• OSHA 30-hour certification; First Aid and CPR certifications.

• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specs, schedules and docs.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to travel across the DMV region.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily on-site operations from mobilization to project closeout.
• Enforce safety policies and local/state/federal requirements.
• Coordinate subcontractors, field personnel, material deliveries, and site logistics.
• Work with PM to set goals, staffing plans, and execution strategies.
• Develop and maintain project schedules with the project scheduler.
• Monitor progress, manpower, and subcontractor performance to maintain schedule.
• Review drawings, specs, RFIs, submittals for constructability and coordination.
• Ensure current drawings and information are used by subs.
• Maintain quality control program and preconstruction meetings.
• Coordinate permits, inspections, commissioning, punch lists, and closeout.
• Maintain accurate as-built documentation and manage field costs.
• Mentor Assistant Superintendents, Field Engineers, and others.

Senior Superintendent / General Superintendent

Location: Bethesda, MD
Travel: Local/regional travel throughout the DMV Region
Compensation: $90,000–$150,000 annually
General Superintendent Experience: Up to $175,000 annually

Position Overview

Superior Skilled Trades is partnered with a leading construction organization seeking an experienced Senior Superintendent / General Superintendent to lead complex construction projects throughout the DMV Region.

The Superintendent will be responsible for the overall field execution of assigned projects, including safety, quality, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, manpower, site logistics, and day-to-day project operations. This position works closely with the Project Manager and project team to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract requirements.

Candidates with strong General Superintendent experience and a proven history of overseeing multiple projects or large-scale construction operations may be considered for compensation up to $175,000 annually.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead daily on-site construction operations from mobilization through project closeout.
• Enforce company safety policies and applicable local, state, and federal safety requirements.
• Coordinate subcontractors, field personnel, material deliveries, inspections, equipment, and site logistics.
• Partner with the Project Manager to establish project goals, responsibilities, staffing plans, and execution strategies.
• Develop, review, and maintain project schedules in coordination with the project scheduler and project team.
• Monitor short-term schedules, manpower, materials, and subcontractor performance to maintain project progress.
• Review drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and other contract documents for constructability and coordination issues.
• Develop a thorough understanding of subcontractor scopes of work and identify potential scope gaps or conflicts.
• Ensure subcontractors are working from current drawings, specifications, and supplemental information.
• Implement and maintain the project quality control program.
• Lead preconstruction and preparatory meetings before major phases of work begin.
• Coordinate permits, inspections, commissioning, punch list completion, and project closeout.
• Maintain accurate as-built documentation throughout the project.
• Manage general conditions and field labor costs.
• Communicate regularly with owners, architects, engineers, construction managers, subcontractors, inspectors, and internal project teams.
• Participate in project reviews, preconstruction activities, client interviews, presentations, and proposal efforts as needed.
• Mentor and support the development of Assistant Superintendents, Field Engineers, Project Engineers, and other project team members.
• Utilize current construction technology and project management software to effectively manage field operations.

Basic Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of construction superintendent experience , preferably managing projects valued at $20 million or more .
• Demonstrated experience leading field operations for commercial, public sector, education, or similarly complex construction projects.
• Proven record of supporting client satisfaction, project profitability, safety, quality, and schedule performance.
• OSHA 30-hour certification.
• First Aid and CPR certifications.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera scheduling, and BIM.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, schedules, and related project documents.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to travel throughout the DMV Region as required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
• Experience working across commercial, public sector, and education construction markets.
• Experience participating in preconstruction, project pursuits, client interviews, or proposal presentations.
• Previous experience mentoring and developing field personnel.
• General Superintendent experience overseeing multiple projects, project teams, or large-scale construction operations.

Compensation & Benefits

• Base Salary: $90,000–$150,000 annually.
• General Superintendent: Compensation up to $175,000 annually , based on experience and qualifications.
