Job summary

Samet Corporation in Wilmington, NC is seeking a Senior Superintendent to lead field operations on our Wilmington region projects. You will direct construction activities, coordinate trades, monitor safety, quality, and schedule, and ensure work is completed on time and within budget.

You will build your direct reports, promote safety and quality, manage subcontractors, review drawings, and participate in CPM scheduling.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field.
  • 7–10 years of construction experience with 3–5 years supervisory.
  • Experience on commercial, institutional, or industrial projects.
  • Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam and MS Office.

Description

This position is based out of our Wilmington, NC regional office.

As the Senior Superintendent in the Wilmington region, you're responsible for everything that happens on our job sites—directing construction activities, coordinating the trades, and ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to quality standards. You're Samet's primary field leader, the person our crews and subcontractors look to for clear direction and support.

Your mission is to bridge project management and field execution, keeping our teams aligned on scope, schedule, and quality. You'll develop your direct reports, lead by example on safety and quality, and own the project from startup through closeout. What You'll Do
  • Direct and supervise all construction activities on assigned projects
  • Coordinate work schedules and sequences among multiple trades and subcontractors
  • Monitor project progress and maintain construction schedules
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure work quality and compliance
  • Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts
  • Implement and enforce all safety protocols and OSHA regulations
  • Conduct daily safety meetings and toolbox talks
  • Investigate incidents and maintain safety documentation
  • Ensure compliance with local building codes and permit requirements
  • Maintain clean and organized job sites
  • Communicate clearly with direct reports regarding performance expectations and career development
  • Maintain productive relationships with contractors and suppliers to support the construction schedule
  • Oversee and manage punch lists to ensure all tasks are resolved before project closeout
  • Meet with AHJs and third-party inspectors to facilitate inspections and approvals
  • Review subcontractor performance to determine if onsite resources are adequate for schedule-driven deliverables
  • Lead the field team to promote quality initiatives, setting expectations for quality inspections and observations
  • Maintain project curb appeal and site organization
  • Assist in project management plan development and updates as required
  • Work closely with the Project Manager to develop and manage subcontractor scopes of work
  • Participate in baseline schedule development and own management, updating, and implementation of the CPM schedule
  • Lead weekly coordination meetings, pre-install meetings, and schedule meetings to support efficient construction flow
What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, construction engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum 7–10 years of construction experience with 3–5 years in a supervisory role
  • Experience with commercial, institutional, or industrial construction projects
  • Proficiency in construction management software, including Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience managing diverse teams and subcontractors

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, walk on rough or uneven surfaces, use hands and fingers to feel or handle office equipment and files, reach with hands and arms, drive, bend, climb stairs or ladders, balance, kneel, crouch, turn or twist, talk, see, and hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to sit, handle hand and/or power tools, and may infrequently be required to crawl. Work Environment

The work environment is a construction site in various stages of completion. The workspace can fluctuate from low to high noise levels and low to high light levels. Unpleasant or potentially harmful fumes may occasionally be present (proper PPE will be provided). The temperature of the work environment is variable based on location and season. Frequent travel is required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Language Ability

Ability to read and comprehend detailed instructions, long correspondence, and memos. Ability to write complex correspondence. Ability to effectively communicate information in one-on-one, small and large group situations to associates or clients of the organization.

Computer Skills

Advanced skill level in Microsoft Office suite, industry-prevalent construction software, and SharePoint. Ability to interact with associates via Zoom or Teams. Ability to type professional correspondence.

Math Ability

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates and Licenses

A valid driver's license is required.
