Job summary

GE Vernova is seeking a Senior Subsystem Integration Engineer – Machine Head in the United States. The role leads technical development, integration, and lifecycle support for the Machine Head Sub-System, acting as the primary technical contact for definition, design integrity, validation, and subsystem quality.

Expect leadership across concept to operation and active involvement in continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required; extensive wind turbine project experience preferred.
  • Strong system engineering background with design, validation, and lifecycle support experience.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts clearly.

Responsibilities

  • Provide system expertise across all product development phases from requirements through lifecycle support.
  • Lead subsystem design studies and trade-offs for cost, performance, and reliability.
  • Define subsystem architecture and manage interfaces between subsystem and components.
  • Develop and approve requirements and ensure flow-down through subsystems and components.
  • Prepare customer-facing technical documents and present technical material to stakeholders.
  • Lead troubleshooting, verification, validation, and risk mitigation activities.
  • Coordinate cross-functional efforts to align schedules and BOM releases with high accuracy.
  • Drive design standardization and continuous improvement across generations of systems.

Job Description Summary

The Senior Subsystem Integration Engineer – Machine Head will lead technical development and implementation of Machine Head Sub-System Level integration. They are the first point of contact for technical definition, design integrity, validation, and subsystem quality. The engineer will provide technical guidance and team leadership/coordination on new product definition and program execution from concept through operation, as well as contributing to continuous improvement in product development processes such as RCA, SAFER, and field issue resolution.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide system expertise through all phases of product development, from requirements definition through design and development, validation, procurement, manufacturing, and product life-cycle support.
  • Lead and/or oversee sub-system conceptual design studies and trade-offs that address product CTQs such as cost, performance, reliability & operability
  • Define subsystem architecture and manage interfaces of the subsystem.
  • Author, contribute to and approve requirements and flow those requirements through the subsystem to the components.
  • Author and make contributions to customer facing technical documents.
  • Communicate and provide recommendations through analysis, preparation, and presentation of technical material.
  • Lead subsystem problem solving, verification, validation and risk mitigation activities.
  • Coordinate and align efforts from cross functional teams both internally and externally to ensure the subsystem development and BOM release on schedule with accuracy.
  • Drive continuous improvement by establishing design strategies, contributing to multi-generation system and technology plans, and managing lessons learned and sick parts.
  • Drive simplification and standardization best practices into product structure, engineering analysis, validation, and program execution.
  • Drive subsystem quality by supporting field and factory quality issues and cases.
  • Undertake complex assignments with long-term business implications, impacting the products’ technical success.
  • Understand and communicate execution status of subsystem technical milestones aligned with the schedule to support the business.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • For roles outside of the USA- This role requires significant experience in the Engineering/Technology & Systems Engineering. Knowledge level is comparable to a Master's degree from an accredited university or college ( or a high school diploma with relevant experience).
  • For roles in the USA, Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Engineering and extensive years of experience working on wind turbine engineering projects, issues and/or technologies.

Desired Characteristics

  • Field issues, test and/or validation experience.
  • Knowledgeable about GE Wind Turbine design practices and 3rd party certification requirements.
  • Willing to travel (~20%) and climb wind turbines
  • Wind Turbine Machine Head work experience or familiarity.
  • Strong technical aptitude.

Relocation Assistance Provided: Yes

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $113,200.00 and $188,800.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
