We are seeking a Senior Substation Protection & Control Engineer to join our team. This role involves designing protection and control projects for electric utilities at voltages from 12kV to 500kV. It offers exposure to the integration of renewable energy sources into the power grid and requires knowledge of digital logic design and AC/DC circuits.

Location and Work Arrangement: Hybrid options available for the Chicago, IL team (2-4 days in the office per week).

Responsibilities: Gain experience in:

• Interfacing with local and national utility clients
• Working on projects from distribution to transmission voltages
• Electrical power calculations
• Collaborating with other disciplines (substation, telecom, civil)

Key Responsibilities:

• Relay and schematic design for substations
• Panel layout and wiring
• Bill of Materials development
• Quality control of wiring designs
• Supporting project lifecycle from scoping to implementation
• Construction support and client standards adherence

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field
• 4+ years of substation protection/control design or testing/commissioning experience for senior level
• 8+ years for lead level
• Experience in executing protection/control projects
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to read and create electrical drawings
• Willingness to travel

Preferred Additional Qualifications:

• US Citizenship and ability to pass DOE background check
• EIT or PE certification
• Experience with CAD tools and quality control
• Master’s degree and field testing experience are a plus
