Position Overview

Senior Substation Physical Engineer responsible for designing substation electrical projects for utility clients ranging from 12 kV to 500 kV. Duties include creating and reviewing one‑line, three‑line, plan‑section, foundation, grounding drawings, performing quality control, and attending site visits.

Location & Travel

• Fully Remote – work from your location.
• Must be located in the Denver, CO or Minneapolis, MN area.
• Requires travel to customer sites.

Job Responsibilities

• Execute substation physical projects.
• Communicate with internal team and clients to meet project needs.
• Perform quality control checks on designs.
• Read and design substation physical drawings such as one‑line, three‑line, plan‑section, foundation, and grounding drawings.
• Create and verify bill of materials.
• Attend site visits at customer locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• Minimum 2 + years of related substation physical design experience.
• Experience with grounding studies, lightning protection, and lighting studies.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
• Collaborative leader effective in team environments.
• Self‑starter with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

• Engineer Intern (EI or EIT) certification.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Knowledge of protection and control design.
• Experience with bus calculation.
• Experience with WinIGS or CDEGS.
• Master’s degree in related field.
