Job summary

Olsson is seeking a Senior Substation Physical Design Engineer in the Dallas area to lead high-voltage substation layouts, equipment arrangement, and constructability for data centers and critical facilities.

You will drive designs from concept through construction, partnering with clients, utilities, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver scalable power solutions with strong emphasis on safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is required.
• Eight or more years of progressive electrical engineering experience with a focus on physical substation design and power delivery infrastructure.
• Experience supporting large-load or mission-critical facilities and coordinating with utilities and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead Physical Substation Design for high-voltage substations and switching stations, including layouts and grounding.
• Lead projects from concept to construction, ensuring constructability and schedule alignment.
• Collaborate with data center owners, developers, and utilities to meet uptime, capacity, and growth needs.
• Coordinate with protection & controls, transmission, distribution, civil, and structural teams for integrated designs.
