Job summary

Entergy in New Orleans, LA is seeking a Substation Mechanic to perform routine and emergency maintenance and repairs on substation equipment within Safety Rules. You will diagnose, test, switch, ground, and install equipment while reading diagrams and manuals to ensure reliable operation.

Responsibilities include inspecting and maintaining breakers, transformers, batteries, cables, and related gear. Availability for 24-hour callouts and extended hours is required.

Qualifications

• Understanding of mechanical concepts and good mechanical skills.
• Ability to read and understand electrical one-line, schematic and wiring diagrams; technical manuals and drawings.
• Must be available for 24 hour call out and extended hours as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic testing of substation equipment including breakers, transformers, batteries, and cables.
• Perform substation switching and grounding procedures.
• Install, maintain, repair, operate and remove switching station and substation equipment.
• Inspect, adjust, maintain, test, repair or replace all types of circuit breakers and switches.
• Perform wiring and maintenance work in substations.
• Maintain substations, buildings, structures, grounds, and customer installations.
