Position Overview

We are currently seeking a motivated Substation Designer/Drafter to join our growing Substation and Transmission Line Design team in Raleigh, NC. As part of a team of highly specialized design professionals, you will support various substation, transmission, and distribution projects ranging from 12kV to 500kV. We support both engineering design and EPC projects for clients nationwide.

Location

This position is based in Raleigh, NC, with typically less than 15% travel required.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Engineers and Designers to develop design documents and drawings for substation or transmission line projects.
• Create design/construction drawing packages, including general plans, elevations, details, bills of material, conduit, and cable schedules.
• Provide drafting support for various substation projects, including physical, electrical, and protection & control design.
• Utilize company, client standards, and engineering directions to produce and update drawings using AutoCAD, MicroStation, or PLS-CADD.
• Maintain document management systems with quality data.
• Train, develop, and mentor less-experienced team members.
• Perform quality control checks and provide feedback to team members.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in Design and/or Drafting, with a background in electrical substation or transmission line design.
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Drafting/Design preferred; minimum GED with drafting or electrical design training.
• Experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Ability to work in a dynamic, multi-discipline team environment.
• Ability to work independently with limited oversight.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
