Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior Substation Designer for our Minneapolis, MN office to provide technical design and CADD support on electrical utility substation projects. This role involves generating design deliverables, reports, and material lists, with on-site or hybrid work arrangements.

You will collaborate with engineers and cross-functional teams, ensure compliance with utility standards and regulations, and produce precise drawings across multiple versions. Occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• 9+ years of post-education experience in design support for electrical utility or substation projects.
• Strong drafting and design support principles and techniques.
• Knowledge of relevant codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping.
• Ability to perform geometry-based calculations and interpret plans.
• Analytical mindset with sound judgment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with multi-tasking and prioritization abilities.
• Occasional travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical design and CADD support to engineers and project managers for electrical utility substation projects.
• Generate accurate design deliverables including reports, plans, models, and material lists.
