Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Senior Substation Engineer to lead physical design of high-voltage substations across critical infrastructure projects in the US. The role emphasizes technical excellence, mentorship of junior engineers, and collaboration with clients and cross-functional teams.

The ideal candidate brings 7–10 years of substations design experience, strong communication, and the ability to manage multiple projects from concept through construction in a dynamic consulting environment.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Bachelor’s in Electrical/Mechanical/Civil engineering.
• 7–10 years of substations physical design experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office and engineering software.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Design power utility substations per applicable codes and client standards.
• Prepare general arrangement, equipment and electrical layouts, BOM, and power systems.
• Design ground grids, lightning protection, and grounding plans.
• Create equipment and material specifications and development of design scope and cost estimates.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, vendors, and contractors to ensure project success.
• Lead and participate in client meetings and site visits to collect data and present solutions.
• Oversee QA/QC processes and review engineering packages.
