Job summary

Atwell is seeking a Substation Engineer to join our Power & Energy team in New York. You will work across multidisciplinary groups on utility and renewable projects, contributing to physical substation design as well as Protection & Controls engineering.

You will develop layouts, wiring diagrams, schematics, and related deliverables, while supporting procurement, construction, and startup phases. A PE license is preferred and AutoCAD/Bluebeam proficiency is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• 5+ years in substation engineering, power delivery, or renewables.
• Experience in physical design and Protection & Controls within substations.
• Familiarity with NEC, NESC, IEEE, ANSI, NFPA standards.
• Proficient with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer high-voltage substations for utility and renewable projects.
• Develop physical design packages and P&C diagrams and layouts.
• Lead or support tasks from kickoff to design package completion.
• Coordinate with civil, SCADA, relay, and project management teams.
• Prepare one-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, and BOMs.
