Job summary

Worley is seeking a Senior Subcontracts Specialist for a field-based role on an active industrial construction site. You will lead subcontract activities, negotiate terms, and coordinate with project teams to ensure safe, on-time, and on-budget delivery of complex contracts.

You will manage subcontract lifecycles, mentor junior staff, and contribute to commercial risk management across energy, chemicals, and resources projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Construction Management, Engineering, Commerce, Law, or related discipline.
  • Typically 7+ years of subcontract administration, contract management, procurement, commercial, construction, or project execution experience.
  • Demonstrated experience administering and negotiating subcontracts within engineering, procurement, construction, energy, chemicals, environmental, industrial, manufacturing, mining, LNG, infrastructure, or major capital project sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of subcontract administration principles, commercial negotiations, contractor management, and contract lifecycle management.
  • Experience identifying, evaluating, and managing subcontractors that support engineering, construction, consulting, and specialty service requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Leading subcontracting activities that support construction, specialty services, consulting services, and project execution requirements.
  • Identifying, soliciting, evaluating, and selecting qualified contractors to provide consulting, specialty, construction, fabrication, and field services.
  • Developing subcontracting strategies that align with project objectives, procurement plans, budgets, schedules, and customer requirements.
  • Preparing, negotiating, administering, and managing subcontracts, amendments, change orders, and associated commercial documentation.
  • Leading commercial negotiations involving pricing, terms and conditions, scope definition, schedules, performance requirements, and contract risk allocation.
  • Monitoring subcontractor performance, delivery schedules, commercial obligations, safety compliance, and service quality requirements.
  • Coordinating closely with procurement, construction, engineering, project controls, legal, finance, and project management teams throughout the subcontract lifecycle.
  • Supporting contractor mobilization, claims management, change management, dispute avoidance, contract interpretation, and issue resolution activities.
  • Reviewing contractor deliverables, progress reporting, performance metrics, and compliance documentation.
  • Reviewing and approving invoices, supporting documentation, and payment recommendations in accordance with approved project requirements.
  • Identifying commercial risks and developing mitigation strategies that support project objectives and successful project outcomes.
  • Preparing and interpreting subcontract reports, commercial analyses, forecasts, contractor evaluations, and project status updates.
  • Supporting audits, compliance reviews, contract closeout activities, and project reporting requirements.
  • Providing technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced subcontract and procurement professionals.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen subcontract administration processes, contractor performance, and commercial effectiveness.

Senior Subcontracts Specialist

This is a field-based assignment on an active industrial construction site.

Play an integral role in delivering sustainable infrastructure and industrial construction projects that support the world’s evolving energy, chemicals, and resources needs. As a Senior Subcontracts Specialist, you will provide commercial leadership and subcontract administration expertise that helps ensure critical services are sourced, negotiated, managed, and delivered successfully throughout the project lifecycle.

Working closely with project management, procurement, construction, legal, finance, contractors, and customers, you will help establish and manage subcontracting strategies that support safe project execution, schedule achievement, cost control, and operational excellence. Your expertise will directly contribute to project success through effective contractor engagement, subcontract administration, commercial risk management, and stakeholder collaboration.

This role is responsible for administering one or more subcontracts of significant complexity and unlimited dollar value while ensuring subcontractors meet project, commercial, contractual, safety, quality, and performance requirements. Through strong commercial acumen, contract management expertise, and supplier relationship management, you will help ensure subcontractors deliver services that support successful project execution while meeting Worley and client expectations.

You will be responsible for

What you’ll bring to the role

You are an experienced contracts and commercial professional with strong subcontract administration expertise and a proven ability to support complex industrial projects. You combine negotiation skills, commercial awareness, and contract management knowledge with the ability to build collaborative relationships across multiple stakeholder groups.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, Engineering, Commerce, Law, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Typically 7+ years of relevant subcontract administration, contract management, procurement, commercial, construction, or project execution experience.
  • Demonstrated experience administering and negotiating subcontracts within the engineering, procurement, construction, energy, chemicals, environmental, industrial, manufacturing, mining, LNG, infrastructure, or major capital project sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of subcontract administration principles, commercial negotiations, contractor management, and contract lifecycle management.
  • Experience identifying, evaluating, and managing subcontractors that support engineering, construction, consulting, and specialty service requirements.
  • Proven ability to negotiate commercial terms and conditions while balancing project objectives, contractor performance, and risk management considerations.
  • Strong understanding of procurement processes, contract law principles, commercial risk management, and project execution requirements.
  • Experience supporting contractor claims, change orders, performance assessments, invoice approvals, and contract compliance activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead project teams and provide guidance, mentorship, and support to other subcontract and procurement professionals.
  • Strong communication, presentation, stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and influencing skills.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to develop practical solutions for complex contractual and commercial challenges.
  • Proficiency with contract management systems, procurement platforms, ERP systems, reporting tools, and project management software.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to subcontractor facilities, fabrication shops, supplier locations, and project sites as required.
