Job summary

Rush University Medical Center seeks a Financial Wellness Coach to deliver high-touch financial coaching to current and prospective students, guiding them through the full financial aid lifecycle and supporting persistence and degree completion.

The role requires strong interpersonal skills, experience in coaching or advising, and the ability to handle confidential information in FERPA-compliant environments, contributing to institutional financial wellness efforts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.
• Experience in financial coaching, financial aid advising, or case management preferred.
• Experience with student information systems or financial aid platforms is expected.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary financial case manager for ~400 students with one-on-one coaching.
• Apply advanced financial coaching techniques to assess circumstances and create plans.
• Advise on education financing options including loans, payments, and scholarships.
• Counsel on credit management and maintaining eligibility for loans.
• Ensure timely completion of financial aid documentation and proactive interventions.
• Track milestones and intervene to support retention and progress.
• Provide coverage for other coaches’ caseloads as needed.
• Develop outreach and deliver financial wellness workshops and programming.
• Maintain documentation in FERPA-compliant systems.
