Varda Space Industries seeks an experienced Senior Structures Engineer to design, analyze, build, and test primary and secondary structures for spaceflight and reentry vehicles. You will lead hardware delivery, perform hand calcs and FEA, and mentor junior engineers in a fast-paced environment at our El Segundo HQ.

The role emphasizes collaboration across disciplines, development of MGSE and mechanisms, and ensuring production-ready designs.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 5+ years of related experience (structures for automotive, aircraft, spacecraft, etc.).
• Strong first principles understanding of structural design, analysis, and testing.
• Ability to perform structural analyses (hand calcs, Ansys, Femap, Nastran).
• Excellent 3D CAD skills (NX) and ability to produce production-ready drawings and instructions.
• Experience with revision-controlled documentation in a PLM system (Teamcenter preferred).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; capability for interdisciplinary technical communication.
• Broad technical breadth across avionics, software, and GNC.

Responsabilidades

• Derive hardware requirements and perform initial design trades from stakeholder input.
• Evaluate impact of design decisions on packaging, thermal, environmental, and loads.
• Own all aspects of hardware delivery (technical and administrative).
• Use hand calcs, FEA, and CAD to ensure hardware meets requirements.
• Design and execute development and qualification testing.
• Develop tooling to support hardware integration and testing.
• Mentor junior engineers in the team.
