Job summary

Inversion, based in Playa Vista, CA, seeks a Structures Engineer II to own cradle-to-grave development of primary and secondary structures for a novel reentry vehicle. You will work with cross-functional teams to solve packaging and manufacturability challenges and drive designs toward hardware readiness.

This role reports to the Director of Mechanical and involves CAD, structural analysis collaboration, and design reviews. Office presence in California is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 2+ years in hardware development for aerospace/defense or similar.
  • Strong mechanical design with emphasis on interfaces and mass optimization.
  • Proficient in 3D CAD (NX/CATIA/SolidWorks) and drawings with GD&T.
  • Experience with structural analysis tools (ANSYS/Abaqus/NASTRAN).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design and development of primary and secondary vehicle structures.
  • Develop structural concepts from architecture to hardware realization.
  • Collaborate with analysis engineers on sizing, margins, and loads.
  • Coordinate with vehicle subsystems for integration and interfaces.
  • Support TPS-to-structure integration concepts and tolerances.
  • Produce CAD drawings and documentation for release of hardware.
  • Assist prototype builds, testing, and investigation of failures.
  • Present risk, progress, and options in reviews and forums.
