Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat is seeking an organized Structural Welding Instructor for onsite support at the Philadelphia focus factories. The role trains supplier staff in welding processes, with emphasis on safety and procedural compliance.

You will assess student performance, oversee embedded instructors, and coordinate with leadership. Must have 4+ years welding experience, teaching ability, and leadership experience; willingness to travel and adapt teaching methods.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 4+ years of welding trade experience.
• 2+ years of work experience at Electric Boat.
• Instructing/teaching experience (formal or informal).
• Leadership experience (working leader, MDU, SS ETC).

Responsibilities

• Instruct multiple welding courses including Workmanship, AWPSS and Safety Briefs.
• Instruct multiple structural related classroom courses.
• Provide quality oversight of supplier embedded instructors.
• Direct and assess hands-on training with practice and tests.
• Enforce safety rules during training and audits.
• Assess student performance and identify nonconformance.
• Support course content reviews and related activities.
• Manage class rosters and training paperwork.
• Meet with Focus Factory Leadership regarding student performance.
• Grade tests and quizzes to ensure knowledge retention.
• Communicate with team members to advance work and resolve issues.
• Support special training projects as required.
• Complete and maintain NDT requirements for Welding Qualifications.
