Job summary

Vaxa Steelworks in New York, NY is seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineer to design, plan, and oversee the construction of structural steel projects. The role requires strong CAD proficiency and familiarity with relevant codes and standards.

You will collaborate with architects, contractors, and project managers, perform calculations, review drawings, and monitor on-site progress to ensure compliance with design specs and safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
• PE license preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of structural engineering experience focusing on steel structures.
• Proficient in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit) and structural analysis tools (STAAD, SAP2000).
• Strong knowledge of building codes and industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze structural steel components and systems for construction projects.
• Develop detailed plans, drawings, and specifications using CAD software.
• Perform structural calculations to ensure safety and stability of steel structures.
• Coordinate with architects, contractors, and project managers to ensure design feasibility and timelines.
• Conduct site visits to monitor progress and ensure compliance with specifications and safety standards.
• Prepare and review technical reports, project documentation, and construction schedules.
• Stay current with industry trends and best practices in structural engineering.
