Job summary

Thornton Tomasetti is seeking a Senior Project Engineer in Structural Engineering to join our global team delivering complex designs. You will lead technical work, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with architects and clients to translate concepts into robust structures.

You’ll apply advanced modeling, seismic design, and performance-based approaches, manage deliverables, and contribute to proposals while growing toward a technical leadership role.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) and/or Structural Engineer (SE) licensure.
  • 6+ years of structural engineering experience in a consulting environment.
  • Strong background in analytical modeling, detailing, and advanced engineering concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Independently evaluate, adapt, and apply advanced engineering concepts to challenging structural problems.
  • Develop deliverables that communicate clearly with clients.
  • Coordinate with architects, contractors, consultants, and internal experts to expand influence.
  • Contribute to proposals and demonstrate technical excellence with clients.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on sustainability, resilience, forensics, renewal, and protective design.

WhatYou’llBring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering;Master’sdegree preferred.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) and/or Structural Engineer (SE) licensure.

  • 6+ years of structural engineering experience, ideally within a consulting environment.

  • Strong background in analytical modeling, detailing, and advanced engineering concepts (steel, concrete, timber, seismic, tall buildings, specialty structures, etc.).

  • Ability to independently develop engineering approaches, solve novel challenges, anddemonstratethe curiosity and initiative to grow into a technical leader.

Compensation

The rate for this position generally is$115,000-$135,000annually.Actual pay rates may vary from the range, as permitted byDistrict of ColumbiaEqual Pay Transparency Law. Compensation offers will be based on various factors, including operational needs, individual education, qualifications and experience, work location and comparison to employee already in the role, as well as other considerations permitted by law. A potential new employee’s pay history will not be used in compensation decisions.
