Job summary

Konecranes is seeking a skilled fitter/fabricator in Georgia to interpret drawings, lay out and assemble crane components and structures with emphasis on first-pass quality. You will operate fabrication equipment and assist with complex fits, while maintaining safety and high standards of workmanship.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED and at least 6 years of experience in heavy steel fabrication, with strong reading of blueprints and tolerance control.

Qualifications

• Strong blueprint reading and interpretation skills.
• Able to achieve high first-pass fit-up acceptance and dimensional accuracy.
• Independently layout and fit complex structural assemblies.
• Solid grounding in welding processes and fit-up techniques.
• Deep understanding of tolerances and fabrication practices.
• Proficient with measuring and layout tools.
• Identify fit-up issues and recommend corrective actions.
• Good communication and teamwork; strong safety focus.

Responsibilities

• Interpret drawings and specs to determine fit-up and assembly needs.
• Produce assemblies matching drawings and tolerances on first pass.
• Layout and fit structural steel components to required dimensions.
• Assemble girders, end trucks, platforms, walkways, brackets.
• Select materials and fit-up methods to control distortion.
• Perform tack welding to prep for final welding.
• Verify dimensions and alignment throughout fabrication.
• Use measuring devices and fabrication equipment safely.
• Maintain clean, organized work area and follow safety directives.
• Assist less experienced fitters and communicate discrepancies.
