Job summary

Thomas & Hutton in Mount Pleasant, SC is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to design and analyze industrial, commercial, and public projects. You will mentor engineers, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and deliver high-quality structural solutions.

You’ll prepare drawings in Revit and AutoCAD, perform analyses with RISA and SAP2000, ensure code compliance, and manage tasks and budgets while traveling to other offices as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a structural focus.
• PE license required; SE certification strongly preferred.
• 8+ years of structural design experience.
• Proficiency with structural analysis and finite element modeling software (RISA, SAP2000).
• Experience with concrete, wood, structural steel, and masonry.
• Experience with AutoCAD and Revit.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Mathcad, Excel, ENERCALC.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with clients and teams.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments, prioritize workflow, and meet deadlines.
• Willingness to travel to other offices.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design for diverse projects (industrial to energy).
• Design structures including treatment plants, piers, bridges, and foundations.
• Prepare construction documents in Revit and AutoCAD.
• Ensure designs comply with codes and project standards.
• Perform structural condition assessments and prepare reports.
• Provide construction administration, including site visits and coordination.
• Coordinate with clients and other design disciplines throughout project delivery.
• Perform peer reviews of calculations and drawings.
• Mentor engineers and interns in the structural department.
• Manage project tasks to meet scope, schedule, and budget.
