Job summary

Arcadis U.S.Inc. seeks a Senior Structural Engineer (PE) to lead federal projects in the Washington, DC area. You will guide structural teams, oversee technical deliverables, and ensure compliance with IBC, ACI, AISC and UFC/UFGS standards for government facilities.

The role requires a PE licensure, at least 10 years of federal experience, and strong leadership and communication skills. Travel within the United States is expected to be around 20% and you will work with a national technical staff

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant engineering experience related to USA Federal Government projects.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) Licensure in the United States. Multiple state licenses are preferred.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Experience producing 'Issued for Construction' design packages for federal agency facilities.
  • Experience with design/build project delivery method.
  • Strong experience with Federal Design Criteria, including SpecsIntact and the Whole Building Design Guide.
  • Strong structural analysis and design skills.
  • Strong, effective communication skills related to presentations, project communications, and written documents.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical authority for assigned engineering programs and initiatives.
  • Work directly with a variety of engineering disciplines, office/project staff, clients, and subcontractors, throughout the project life cycle.
  • Excellent working knowledge of all building codes and standards, such as IBC, ACI, AISC, etc., with extensive knowledge of federal agency standards such as UFC, UFGS, etc.
  • Organize and conduct structural-related engineering investigations, develop calculations, plans, specifications, proposals, and other contract documents.
  • Provide technical guidance and oversight to junior and mid-level structural engineers.
  • Travel and participate in project-related activities such as client meetings, charettes, and site visits, as required.

POSITION - SENIOR STRUCTURAL ENGINEER PE - FEDERAL (USA) GOVERNMENT PROJECTS

Arcadis is seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer (PE) to join our growing Federal Structural Engineering Team in the Washington, DC area.

This role provides senior technical leadership on USA federal projects, ensuring alignment with client requirements, quality standards, and organizational goals.

You will guide structural teams through complex engineering challenges, oversee technical deliverables, and drive continuous improvement in engineering practices.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on, self-motivated professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and excels at strategic thinking, problem-solving, and stakeholder communication.

Supported by a nationally recognized technical staff, you will apply your structural design and construction engineering expertise to deliver projects for federal clients.

Travel within the United States of America is estimated to be about 20%.

Role accountabilities:
