Job summary

Arcadis is seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer (PE) to join our Federal Structural Engineering Team in the Washington, DC area. This role provides senior technical leadership on USA federal projects, guiding teams, overseeing deliverables, and ensuring compliance with IBC, AISC, UFC standards.

Travel up to 20% within the United States. Requirements include 10+ years of US federal project experience, PE licensure, US citizenship, and a BS in Structural or Civil Engineering.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of relevant engineering experience related to USA Federal Government projects.
• Professional Engineering (PE) Licensure in the United States. Multiple state licenses preferred.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Experience producing “Issued for Construction” design packages for federal agency facilities.
• Experience with design/build project delivery method.
• Strong experience with Federal Design Criteria, including SpecsIntact and the Whole Building Design Guide.
• Strong structural analysis and design skills.
• Strong, effective communication skills related to presentations, project communications, and written documents.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical authority for assigned engineering programs and initiatives. Exercise judgment on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives
• Work directly with a variety of engineering disciplines, office/project staff, clients, and subcontractors, throughout the project life cycle
• Excellent working knowledge of all building codes and standards, such as IBC, ACI, AISC, etc., with extensive knowledge of federal agency standards such as UFC, UFGS, etc.
• Organize and conduct structural-related engineering investigations, develop calculations, plans, specifications, proposals, and other contract documents
• Provide technical guidance and oversight to junior and mid-level structural engineers.
• Travel and participate in project-related activities such as client meetings, charettes, and site visits, as required.
