Job summary

Rimkus Consulting Group is seeking a highly experienced Principal Structural Engineer in South Florida to evaluate existing buildings and develop innovative solutions for complex structural challenges.

You will work on residential, multi-family, and commercial projects, with emphasis on damage assessment and repair related to fire, wind, flood, and other events; adaptive reuse and modernization may be included. Strong leadership and client collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is required.
PE license is required; SE license preferred.
15+ years of structural design experience.
AutoCAD proficiency required; BIM experience a plus.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.

Responsibilities

Prepare as-built drawings for existing structures.
Perform structural evaluations of existing, and damaged buildings.
Develop drawings and specifications per building codes and standards.
Research building codes and identify required upgrades.
Conduct field assessments (ladders, lifts, rooftops, confined spaces).
Investigate structural conditions and determine repair strategies.
Lead design work for upgrades and restoration of structures.
Manage project scope, schedule, and budget while leading teams.
Collaborate with Business Development and participate in client meetings.
Produce and review technical deliverables (reports, bid docs, construction docs).
