Job summary

Vestal Corporation in Texas seeks a Structural Engineer to perform independent structural design within a multi-disciplinary design team for ground-up industrial, commercial, and healthcare facilities in the San Antonio area.

This role uses RAMSTEEL/FRAME, SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, TEDDS, and RISA-Connect to develop design packages, while maintaining current codes and standards and leading projects from inception to construction documents with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering is required.
At least 5–10 years of experience in Building Engineering or Construction is required.
Familiarity with REVIT is a plus.
Lean Design Practices is preferred.
Ability to lead and deliver the project from inception to construction documents with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

Design structures – ground-up, industrial buildings/facilities, commercial buildings, and healthcare facilities.
Develop design packages using company software.
Maintain knowledge of codes and standards.
Assign/determine loads to structures based on project and code requirements.
Drive projects toward efficient and cost-effective designs.
Perform structural analysis on steel and concrete systems.
Learn and implement Lean design principles.
Interface with Lead CAD/Designers, engineers, and PMs to coordinate structural system layouts.
Lead in design and construction using all structural materials and systems.
Review contractor submittals and RFIs during construction.
Site visits for pre-design field investigations and construction observations.
Develop probable construction cost.
Follow construction safety guidelines and QC procedures.
