Job summary

Brasfield & Gorrie, L.L.C. is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to lead technical scopes, provide oversight across multiple projects, and operate in Responsible Charge.

The role requires directing staff, sealing calculations, and ensuring code compliance across complex structural designs. The candidate should have a PE license (SE preferred), 6–14+ years of structural engineering experience, and advanced knowledge of IBC, ASCE, ACI, AISC, AWC, and AISI codes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering and related field.
• 6–14+ years of structural engineering and design experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required; SE license preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to operate in Responsible Charge for engineering deliverables.
• Advanced knowledge of IBC, ASCE, ACI, AISC, AWC, and AISI codes.
• Experience in reinforced concrete, post-tensioned concrete, structural steel, cold-formed steel, timber, masonry, and foundations.
• Strong engineering judgment for high-risk or ambiguous situations.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural engineering design of temporary structures used in construction and demolition, including shoring and formwork.
• Design construction procedures, erection plans, demolition sequencing, and post-tensioning sequences.
• Evaluate existing and proposed structures for temporary loads and conditions, including hoisting and attachments.
• Operate in Responsible Charge for engineering deliverables, directing staff and sealing calculations and reports.
• Conduct quality control reviews of engineering work for accuracy and compliance.
• Provide technical oversight across multiple projects, identify risks, and choose engineering approaches.
• Define engineering scope and communicate expectations, risks, and limitations to teams.
• Guide teams on engineering best practices, constructability, and risk mitigation.
• Support preconstruction by evaluating design concepts and means/methods development.
• Assist operations by addressing field issues and remediation strategies.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering standards and procedures.
• Support dispute resolution, claims, or investigations with technical expertise.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
