Southern Search is conducting a confidential search for a well-established architecture, engineering, and planning firm in Huntsville. They seek a Senior Structural Engineer to take ownership of complex design across diverse projects, collaborating with architects and project managers to deliver code-compliant, constructible solutions.

The ideal candidate has a PE license in Alabama and 10+ years of structural experience, with a proven track record in buildings, foundations, and site structures.

Qualifications

• PE license in Alabama is required.
• 10+ years of structural engineering experience.
• Experience designing buildings, retaining walls, foundations, and other structural systems.
• Proficiency with structural analysis and design software.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze structural systems for buildings and site-related structures.
• Prepare structural calculations, specifications, and construction documents supporting coordinated, constructible designs.
• Apply building codes, design standards, and engineering best practices to develop safe, efficient structural solutions.
• Collaborate with project managers, architects, and multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout planning and design.
• Perform structural evaluations and recommend repairs or renovations for existing facilities.
• Support construction activities through field observations, submittal reviews, RFI responses, and technical guidance.
• Prepare technical memoranda, engineering reports, and structural assessment documentation.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and staff.
