The role leads structural design standards, QA initiatives, and multidisciplinary project execution while serving as the organization’s primary technical authority. PE license and 10+ years of experience are required.

Qualifications

• PE license required; SE designation a plus but not required.
• 10+ years of structural design experience post-graduation.
• Extensive design experience with wood, steel, concrete, masonry structural systems.
• Strong knowledge of building codes and value engineering practices.
• Strong technical expertise in design, documentation, QA, and cross-discipline coordination.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and maintenance of structural design standards and documentation.
• Monitor QA processes, peer reviews, and construction feedback for technical excellence.
• Act as primary technical resource and final authority for structural matters.
• Identify mentorship and training opportunities to strengthen the team.
• Evaluate structural engineering candidates and assess technical competency and fit.
• Collaborate with other Discipline Leads to establish best practices across disciplines.
• Lead structural design staff through project phases and construction.
• Work in a multi-discipline team to develop structural concepts, drawings, and specs.
• Respond to contractors during construction.

Overview

ACS Professional Staffing seeks a Senior Structural Engineer - Discipline Lead for a client providing full-service engineering and architectural design solutions. This role will lead structural engineering standards, quality assurance initiatives, and multidisciplinary project execution while serving as the organization's primary technical authority. The ideal candidate will bring 10+ years of structural design experience, a Professional Engineer (PE) license, expertise in building systems and codes, and proven leadership, mentoring, and team development skills.

This full-time position is located in Kalispell, MT and Bozeman, MT.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of structural engineering design, drafting, and documentation standards.
• Monitor design sequencing, quality assurance processes, peer reviews, construction feedback, and emerging technologies to promote technical excellence.
• Serve as the company's primary technical resource and final authority for structural engineering matters and dispute resolution.
• Identify mentorship, training, and continuing education opportunities to strengthen technical capabilities throughout the structural team.
• Participate in the evaluation of structural engineering candidates and support leadership with assessments of technical competency and team fit.
• Provide guidance on technical design and drafting challenges and help develop effective solutions.
• Collaborate with other Discipline Leads to establish best practices and quality standards across disciplines.
• Independently lead structural design staff throughout the project design and construction phases.
• Work in a multi-discipline team environment to manage the development, design, and implementation of structural concepts, systems, drawings, and specifications.
• Respond to contractors during the construction.

Requirements

• Structural Professional Engineer (PE) License. (SE designation a plus, but not required)
• At least 10+ years of experience post-graduation from an accredited University.
• Extensive design experience with building structural systems using wood, steel, concrete, and masonry.
• A strong understanding of building codes and value engineering practices.
• Strong technical structural expertise in design, documentation, quality assurance, and cross-discipline coordination.
• Outstanding organization, attentiveness to detail and excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize strategically and demonstrate flexibility to achieve long-range goals.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Bluebeam, Autodesk Revit, and industry standard structural design software. (Preferably - Enercalc, RISA, and similar)
• Proven leadership, mentoring, organizational, and delegation abilities.
