Job summary

HDR is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to deliver expert structural design and project leadership across building projects in Montana. You will guide design activities, oversee teams of engineers and technicians, and contribute to our employee-owned culture while coordinating multi-disciplinary efforts.

Ideal candidates hold a PE license, 10+ years of experience in building design, and proficiency in AutoCAD, RAM, ETABS, and SAFE, with expertise in steel, concrete, masonry and wood

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years structural engineering experience for building design.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license recognized by state licensing board.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, RAM, ETABS, SAFE or similar software.
• Experience with steel, concrete, masonry and wood design.
• Understanding of gravity and lateral analysis.
• Experience in an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm.
• Commitment to employee-owned culture.

In the role of Senior Structural Engineer, we'll count on you to:

• Serve as a technical expert with recognized authority in structural engineering as it relates to projects; resolve problems of greater scope and complexity
• Plan and develop projects or design activities
• Plan, organize and supervise work of medium to large staff of professionals and technicians
• Serve as Project Manager on larger projects, though project management is not sole focus of position
• Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Architectural Engineering, Structural emphasis

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• A minimum of 10 years structural engineering experience as it relates to building design
• Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
• Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, RAM, ETABS, SAFE or similar analytical software
• Experience in design calculations and layouts
• Ability to design and detail in steel, concrete, masonry and wood
• Requires understanding of gravity analysis and lateral analysis
• Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm
