Job summary

HDR is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer in Montana to lead structural engineering efforts on building design projects. You will apply your technical expertise to solve complex problems and guide project teams in planning and execution.

As an employee-owned firm, HDR emphasizes collaboration, ownership, and community impact. The role offers a full-time schedule and opportunities to contribute across multiple locations in Montana, including Bozeman, Helena, Kalispell, Missoula, and Butte.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of structural engineering experience on building design.
• Professional Engineer license recognized by local licensing board.
• Experience with design calculations and layouts.
• Experience in steel, concrete, masonry, and wood design.
• Understanding gravity and lateral analysis.
• Previous experience at an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm.
• Commitment to employee-owned culture.

In the role of Senior Structural Engineer, we'll count on you to:

• Serve as a technical expert with recognized authority in structural engineering as it relates to projects; resolve problems of greater scope and complexity
• Plan and develop projects or design activities
• Plan, organize and supervise work of medium to large staff of professionals and technicians
• Serve as Project Manager on larger projects, though project management is not sole focus of position
• Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Architectural Engineering, Structural emphasis

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• A minimum of 10 years structural engineering experience as it relates to building design
• Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
• Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, RAM, ETABS, SAFE or similar analytical software
• Experience in design calculations and layouts
• Ability to design and detail in steel, concrete, masonry and wood
• Requires understanding of gravity analysis and lateral analysis
• Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm
